Tomato Basil Sauce
This is the way I make the spaghetti sauce I mentioned except that I use canned tomatoes and only a little red wine.
Tomato Basil Sauce
This recipe serves: 8
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 medium onion, chopped
8 cloves garlic, chopped
8 tomatoes, chopped
1 cup water, or red wine
1/2 cup chopped, fresh basil
freshly ground black pepper
1. In a saucepan or stock pot over medium heat, sauté the onion in the oil until golden, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic, tomatoes and simmer 5 minutes. Add the water and simmer another 5 minutes. Add the basil and simmer 1 minute longer.
2. Place all of the ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend until chunky, about 5 seconds. Taste and season with pepper.
